Finding the perfect puppy dogs names doesn’t have to be hard. Dogs better understand short commands so short names are easiest for them. Simple names with one or two syllables are usually best. Names for puppies shouldn’t sound like any commands. “Stacy” and “stay” sound too much alike and may confuse your puppy.

If possible, let your kids be part of the choosing puppy names process. Kids like keeping it simple too. Keep in mind that you’ll be using your puppy’s name in public. “Stinky” may be cute among your immediate family or friends, but it won’t go over well at the veterinarian or around casual acquaintances. You may think it’s an honor to name your pup after you’re favorite Uncle Arnold. He might find naming your baby after him an honor, but naming your puppy after him, not so much. Purebred Bichon Frise puppies are eligible to be AKC registered. A hoity toity name will be required for that purpose but not for everyday use.
If you’re bringing home or adopting an older or adult dog, ideally, you should stick with the name he already knows and responds to. If you absolutely can’t stand it because “Barney” was the name of the first boy who broke your heart, then choose a name with a similar sound and syllables, like “Farley”.
You should make a list of possible names for puppies as you go through the process. Once you’ve narrowed down your puppy names list and selected a name, try it out for a day or so and see how it feels. In short time you should know whether it’s a keeper. If not, there’s always lots more possible names for puppies on the list you made.

A get together of family and friends is a great way to get lots of possibilities. Just ask for suggestions and they’ll start throwing names at you faster then you can write. These aren’t Bichon Frise puppies but here are a few favorite puppy names you might consider when making your decision. “Bo” is President Obama’s new puppy’s name. “Lola,” is a cool name used by both Hilary Duff and the Osbournes. Britney Spear’s dog’s names are Lacey and Bit. Tinkerbell is Paris Hilton’s famous pooch.
Then, there are TV dogs. “Scooby” and “Astro” are well known cute puppy names. Movie dogs and cool dog names seem to go hand in hand. “Farley” was a hit in a recent dog movie as many animated dogs also became famous. “Blue” would be a fitting label for a variety of dogs or who could forget “Yeller” from the movie Old Yeller. Or, there are all the Comic dogs. “Snoopy” is always fun, but also consider “Daisy” or “Odie.” German dog names are popular, such as “Fritz” or “Kaiser.” Irish dog names. “Finn” fits well for any puppy or dog, as does “Murphy,” which just happens to mean “hound of the sea.” Of course there’s always the sophisticated sounding French names for puppies, like “Pierre” or “Gigi.
